Author Talk: Nancy Bell

Nancy Marie Bell is a proud Albertan and Canadian. She lives near Balzac, Alberta with her husband and various critters.  She is a member of The Writers Union of Canada and the Writers Guild of Alberta. Nancy has numerous writing credits to her name, having three novels published and her work has been published in various magazines. Come meet her at the South Branch library in Cold Lake on Oct. 14 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Workshop - QuickBooks & Bookkeeping Basics

About the workshop: Understand the basics of bookkeeping and have an overview of QuickBooks, including benefits, recording entries, avoiding the pitfalls, short cuts, reconciling the bank accounts, reports, CRA accounts, year-end checklists and back-up files.

Who should attend: Small business owners, managers, supervisors and anyone responsible for the financial accounting of a business who want to learn and understand the QuickBooks software.

Please bring your laptop with QuickBooks Desktop 2017, either QuickBooks Pro or QuickBooks Premier installed. (Trial version is available.)

This presentation will provide an overview of ADHD; what it
is and isn’t. How ADHD is diagnosed,and other discussions.
Pharmaceutical and behavioural interventions will also be presented.

Adolescent Anxiety

Anxiety means being nervous, worried or fearful about real or
imagined threats. All adolescents have worries, but for 2-4%
of all adolescents these worries become overwhelming. This
workshop will review the different types of anxiety and the
symptoms and signs. How anxiety presents in the classroom
will also be discussed. Strategies to help adolescents manage
anxiety will be explored. This workshop is appropriate for
educators, parents and mental health professionals.

National Bullying Awareness Breakfast

National Bullying Awareness Breakfast
In support of National Bullying Awareness Week, the Cold Lake Bully Free Committee will be hosting a community breakfast on November 18, 2017 to draw local awareness to the issue of bullying. There will be breakfast and infor¬mation for people of all ages. The winning Bully Free Film Festival submissions will be shown at this time.  Please call FCSS at 780-594-4495 for more information.

First Impressions

First Impressions
The City of Cold Lake wishes to make all new residents feel welcomed and valued in our community. New residents are invited to ‘First Impressions’ coffee meetings at FCSS. These meetings will be an opportunity for new residents to meet other newbies over coffee and tea, learning where to find others with their interests, as well as learning everything they need to know about Cold Lake and District.

National Child's Day

National Child’s Day
The Lakeland Early Childhood Development Coalition will be celebrating National Child’s Day in the Energy Centre Field House. Stay tuned for more information for themes and activities.  Community partners invested in the healthy development of all children coordinate this event.
