Cold Lake Regional Airport
The Cold Lake Regional Aerodrome (CEN5) occupies a land area of approximately 99.5 hectares (245 acres) and is located approximately 4 km to the west of the City of Cold Lake and 7 km north of Canadian Forces Base 4 Wing Cold Lake (CYOD). While the aerodrome was initially developed by the Province of Alberta in 1979, it was transferred to the City of Cold Lake in 1997. Since that time, the City has acted as the aerodrome's owner and operator. While the aerodrome is not staffed, it is operational 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The aerodrome is currently suited to VTR (Visual Flight Rules) operations and falls within Cold Lake military airspace. An area immediately south of the apron has been developed for a variety of general aviation uses. The City of Cold Lake holds a total of 17 leases in the area with intentions to expand the lease area in the near future. There is currently no vacant lease space.
