Emotion Coaching     One thing that can make a difference for your children now and in the future is to help them understand their emotions by recognizing what they feel and why. Learn how to teach your children to manage feelings in a positive way so that they can eventually regulate their own behavior. Childcare may be available. Emergency Management Training This two-day workshop is in partnership with the Alberta Emergency Management Agency.  Basic Emergency Management (BEM) is encouraged prior to the course. A self-study version of BEM is online at http://www.aema.alberta.ca/bem.  If volunteers wish to work with Cold Lake and District FCSS Emergency Social Services, it is highly recommended that they complete the following courses. Emergency Social Services – Day 1 Large-scale disasters require the activation of the community’s Emergency Social Services Response Plan to meet the urgent needs, until regular social services or special recovery programs are in operation. The community’s Emergency Social Services Response Plan is a specialized component of the Municipal Emergency Plan. Registration and Inquiry Course – Day 2 In a major disaster, family members may become separated. This can trigger acute anxiety and fear. The Registration and Inquiry course, which is part of the municipality’s Disaster Social Services Response Plan, would be activated to collect information and answer inquiries about the condition and whereabouts of survivors. Persons with Functional Needs – Day 2 In a major disaster, it is important to include persons with disabilities in emergency plans.
