Councillor Duane Lay

Councillor Duane Lay has proudly lived in the City of Cold Lake for over 40 years.

He was first elected to council in October 2007, and had a successful return to the role in the 2010, 2013, and 2017 elections.

Duane originally ran for council because he wanted to be involved in the challenging and exciting times the city is facing. Now, he hopes to offer some experience to the new council members as Cold Lake moves forward.

Duane has served on a number of committees as a council member, including Composite Assessment Review Board, the Lakeland Doctor Recruitment Board, Local Assessment Review Board, Municipal Disaster Services Agency, Municipal Planning Commission, Muni Corr, the Water North Committee, and the Regional Utility Services Commission.

After graduating from high school in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan, Duane took a year of school at the University of Saskatchewan before moving to Alberta. In 1976, Duane and his wife Bernadette moved to Cold Lake. They have two sons who both live and work in Cold Lake.
