Take Control of Your Medications Seniors, those 65 and older, are the fastest growing population in Canada, and by 2036, they are expected to represent as much as a quarter of the population.  The majority of seniors are prescribed five or more prescription medications.  Taking more medications increases the risk of mix-ups, unwanted side effects and drug interactions. The health and economic toll of poor medication coordination with seniors is well documented, with adverse drug events being a major contributor to falls, illness, hospitalization and death.  The Med Wise program is designed to improve seniors’ ability to manage their medications and start open communication with their pharmacists.  We are excited to have Lisa Guirguis, BSc, PhD, Associate Professor from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to share how seniors can improve their ability to manage their medications and communicate with their pharmacists.  Please register for either the morning or the afternoon sessions.  Please be prepared to attend the three two-hour sessions.  Dates:  Wednesdays, September 18, 25, and October 2 Time:  2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Location:  Cold Lake and District FCSS Contact:  Cold Lake and District FCSS Cost:  Free, registration is required
