Council approves 3 grant applications, 1 sponsorship for July
Cold Lake, AB – Council approved three sponsorship grants as well as one additional sponsorship outside of the City’s Community Recreation, Art, Culture and Heritage (CRACH) grant program.
Council approved three requests worth a total of $16,000 as Sponsorship Grants under the CRACH Program, following the recommendation of the Community Grant Advisory Committee after its July meeting.
Also approved was a three-year sponsorship in the amount of $2,582.80 for the Fighter Jets Football Club. The sponsorship effectively forgives the club’s outstanding balance owed to the city, in return for recognizing the City of Cold Lake as a sponsor over the course of three seasons.
“We appreciate that non-profits can find themselves in a financial crunch, and we applaud the work that the Fighter Jets have done to make their team successful and sustainable,” Cold Lake Mayor, Bob Mattice, said. “We hope that this sponsorship, and the grants approved, will help these community groups with their events. The hard work and dedication of our non-profit organizations ensure that Cold Lake remains a vibrant city with plenty of options for recreation and culture.”
The grants approved at the August 11, 2026, Regular Meeting of Council were:
· Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre for a $3,500 Sponsorship Grant in support of the Dragonfly Centre’s Charity Golf Classic, to be held at the Bonnyville Golf and Country Club on August 21, 2026.
· Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta for a $10,000 Sponsorship Grant in support of the Winterland invitations, to be held in Cold Lake, Bonnyville and Glendon from February 12 through February 14, 2027.
· True Patriot Love Foundation for a $2,500 Sponsorship Grant in support of the Canadian Walk for Veterans, to be hosted at the Cold Lake Legion #211 on September 27, 2026.
