Grant funding and policy changes approved for CRACH

Cold Lake, AB – Grant funding requests and changes to policy were both approved for the Community Recreation, Art, Culture, and Heritage Investment Grant at the Feb. 10 Council meeting.

Two grant applications were approved after being recommended by the Community Grant Advisory Committee. These included:

  • Cold Lake Minor Hockey Association in the amount of $6,000 for a Sponsorship Grant for hosting the U15B Provincial Championship in March.
  • James Purdy o/a MS Ain’t Purdy in the amount of $3,000 for a Sponsorship Grant for the 2026 Skijoring for MS event at the Agricultural Society Exhibition Park.

The Advisory Committee looks over all applications to ensure they meet the criteria of the grant, then makes recommendations to City Council.

“We appreciate the hard work the committee does,” said Mayor Bob Mattice. “The group meets monthly in order to make sure our local organizations can apply and be approved for funding in a timely manner.”

Council also approved some changes to the grant policy, which cleared up some language and grant amounts, such as:

  • 4.3.4. Travel Grant from “Up to a maximum of $750 per individual per calendar year” to “Up to a maximum grant of $2,500 per organization per year.”
  • 4.3.7 Arts, Culture, and Heritage Grant to read “Up to a maximum of $3,000 per organization per calendar year,” removing the maximum of $1,500 for an outcome-based program.
