Motocross event to temporarily use extra land

Cold Lake, AB – Additional land will temporarily be provided to the Cold Lake Motocross Association for their upcoming event, the Canadian Triple Crown Series Motocross Event. 

“This is going to be a huge, national-sized and televised event,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “We’re expecting to see racers, teams, and spectators from across North America coming to our community.”  

The event takes place June 6 to 9, and the hosts are anticipating over 2,000 attendees. With this influx of people and traffic in the community, the Cold Lake Motocross Association requested use of the land west of the existing motocross track, close to the future Public Works building, as a space for temporary overnight camping, additional parking, and semi-truck and trailer staging. 

“This helps solidify Cold Lake as a great place to host these large-scale events,” said Copeland. “It’s a huge boon to our economy and tourism exposure. I hope our community will take advantage of having this calibre of event right here in our back yard and come out in support.”
