Sidewalk extension on 16 Street moving forward

Cold Lake, AB – Construction for the sidewalk extension on 16 Street is set to begin in the next few weeks.

The sidewalk will roughly run from 11 Avenue to 14 Avenue along 16 Street, providing approximately 230 metres of length needed to finish connecting 16 Avenue to 8 Street for pedestrians.

“By completing this section of sidewalk along 16 Street, we can help residents stay safe when walking that section of Cold Lake North, instead of having to walk along the grass or on the road,” said Mayor Bob Mattice. “We planned to have a sidewalk run all the way up the hill, but it was built in sections to accommodate the road that was built to connect 16 Street and 13 Street.”

The project is valued at just over $103,000 and was accounted for in the 2026 budget. The sidewalk extension is expected to be by mid-October.
