Updates to snow removal policy made to include new streets
Cold Lake, AB – The City’s Snow Removal and Winter Road Maintenance Policy was amended during this week’s council meeting to reflect changes along Lakeshore Drive and new streets that are not yet identified on the snow removal maps.
“The policy was last revised in October 2022,” said Mayor Bob Mattice. “Since then, the improvements on Lakeshore Drive have been completed and several new streets created in the community. We wanted to make sure these streets were formally included in the policy.”
With the new improvements made along Lakeshore Drive, council decided to increase the level of service and have snow cleared and removed instead of pushed off to the side, to better protect the landscaping and infrastructure.
New residential streets were added to the Priority 5 (Grey) section of the policy to align with other residential areas. These streets include:
- Waterton Way
- Fundy Way
- 12 Avenue between 13 Street and 16 Street
- Glacier Gate
- Lakewood Way
Although they were not officially in the policy until this week, these roads were still maintained in previous winters by city staff.
