Regional Airport

The Cold Lake Regional Airport (TCID: CEN5) is an uncontrolled aerodrome operated by the City of Cold Lake. It is located within CFB Cold Lake military airspace. The airport is not staffed, but the runway is open and operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for VFR (visual flight rules) operations. 100LL and Jet A-1 fuels are available at the airport for purchase. See fuel prices

The airport is operated and maintained by the Infrastructure Services department. For general information, call 780-594-4496 or email infrastructure@coldlake.com. Getting here

The Regional Airport is located approximately 4 kilometres west of the city of Cold Lake and 7 kilometres north of CFB 4 Wing Cold Lake, at 63407 Range Road 425, M.D. of Bonnyville. By vehicle, it is accessible from Highway 55, Highway 897 and from 1st Avenue in Cold Lake North.

Facility and services

The terminal building is adjacent to the apron and is open 24/7. Amenities include seating/waiting area, telephone and restrooms. 

Snow removal and maintenance are provided by the City of Cold Lake. The Regional Airport is a Priority 1 route as per the City's snow removal policy. For runway conditions, please check NOTAMS. For maintenance issues, contact the City of Cold Lake Public Works department at 780-594-4496 (during office hours) or 780-207-0173 (after hours emergencies).

For transient aircraft parking, contact the City of Cold Lake Public Works department for available spaces and fees at 780-594-4496 (during office hours) or 780-207-0173 (after hours). Grass aircraft tie-down spaces are available for short or long term-lease. Land lots are available to lease. Lot sizes range from 400 to 3,240 square metres (4,305 to 10,630 square feet). For more information on leasing opportunities, contact the Airport manager. If interested in leasing a space, please complete the Lease Application

The City of Cold Lake is committed to providing a safe environment for airport users, staff and the general public. This is achieved by management of identifiable hazards and eliminating risks to the lowest reasonable level. The City is committed to the following fundamental safety beliefs:

  • The health and safety of Cold Lake Regional Airport users, employees and members of the public remains the highest priority. Safety shall never be compromised in order to get the job done.
  • Safety will be considered when any new procedure is put in to practice. Improving safety will be part of our planning process.
  • The City of Cold Lake and airport staff are accountable for safety performance.
  • By working together with users of the airport, safety will be enhanced.
  • Safety is to be implemented at all levels of the organization, from the Accountable Executive to the maintenance employees.
  • This safety commitment is communicated to all employees that are involved with the Cold Lake Regional Airport. This is done through writing in safety meetings, posting copies of the safety policies on the bulletin boards and archiving it on the internal City website. 

The General Manager of Infrastructure/Accountable Executive is responsible for all aspects of safety and has control of the financial and human resources necessary for the activities and operations of the Cold Lake Regional Airport.

The City of Cold Lake Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Manual is used to identify and manage hazards, and to minimize risk. A copy of policy and manual is available through the Corporate Services department. Employees can view a digital copy on the City of Cold Lake intranet. 

Records of incidents will be tracked and maintained by the City of Cold Lake as per the Occupational Health and Safety Policy and all other related legislation.
