Cardboard Sled Race
This year at Snow Fever, the City of Cold Lake will be hosting its inaugural Cardboard Sled Races!

Teams of two will work together to build a cardboard sled. On Sunday, February 16, teams will bring their creation to race down the turf field berm, one at a time, to determine the fastest sled and the furthest travelling sled. A third prize will be given to the most creative team. Teams are encouraged to come up with the most whacky, funny and out-of-the [cardboard] box theme for their sled. Costumes are also encouraged.
To register your team for the Carboard Sled Race, click here. Deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 14.
Sled Design
- Sled must be constructed out of cardboard and duct tape only. Small amounts of glue may be used to ensure your sled stays together if the weather is very cold out.
- Sleds are to be built off site and must be "complete and ready to slide" when arriving on location for the race.
- No additives (oil, wax, etc.) may be applied to the bottom of the sled to enhance performance.
- For all runs, each team will be given one push from an Energy Centre Staff.
All sleds will be subject to inspection by City of Cold Lake Staff prior to each team's run. Any sleds found to be in violation of the above rules may be subject to disqualification. This event is also dependent on weather and a required accumulation of snow.
