Parking

All street parking within the city of Cold Lake is free. There is no pay parking at this time.

Take note of street signs as some streets have limits on how long you can park. A vehicle must move every 72 hours, or it will be considered abandoned under the Traffic Safety Act and subject to fines or towing. Handicap parking spaces are clearly identified by signage. These spots are for people with official Government of Alberta handicap placards. Parking in a designated handicap parking space without a valid handicap parking placard could result in a fine or towing.

RV and trailer parking

Cold Lake's Traffic Bylaw states motorhomes, holiday trailers, boat trailers and utility trailers can be parked on city streets for no more than 48 hours at one time. This period is to allow for the loading/unloading and cleaning of recreational vehicles. After 48 hours has passed, the vehicle or trailer must be moved from that location for at least 24 hours before it can be parked there again. The fine for exceeding the 48 hour parking limit is $50 and will increase with subsequent offences.

  • Trailers must always be attached to a vehicle capable of moving them. They are not permitted on the street at any time without an attached tow vehicle.
  • Recreational vehicles and trailers which require a water or power supply must be parked on private property. Cords and hoses may not cross roads or sidewalks. No vehicle (including recreational vehicles) or trailer may create an obstruction, hinder pedestrian or vehicle traffic, or cause a safety risk.
  • All vehicles (including recreational vehicles and trailers) parked on private property must be at least 0.3 metres (about 1 foot) away from the curb or sidewalk. Trailers, boats, hitches and vehicles cannot block the sidewalk or hang out over the edge of the curb. See a visual representation.

Private property parking

If a vehicle is parked on private property without permission, and you are the property owner or the property owner's representative, you have the right to have the vehicle removed by contacting a towing company.

You may contact Municipal Enforcement and request a Peace Officer attend to attempt to locate the vehicle's owner. Peace Officers cannot have vehicles towed from private property.
