Accessibility and Mobility Devices

Cold Lake Transit buses are fully accessible for passengers with mobility challenges. Those who use wheelchairs, walkers or other mobility devices are welcome on board. Passengers must be able to maneuver onto the bus and into the dedicated space without the assistance of the driver or other passengers.

  • All of our buses are low-floor, so there are no steps to climb.
  • Each bus has a retractable ramp which extends out to the sidewalk, so people with wheelchairs, walkers, baby strollers or other mobility challenges can board easily.
  • Our newest buses kneel down on the passenger side, lowering the entrance even closer to sidewalk level to make boarding as easy as possible.
  • All of our buses have reserved space for passengers who use wheelchairs or mobility devices, with restraint systems to keep them safe and secure during travel.

Important to note

While our current fleet of buses is fully accessible to passengers with mobility challenges, from time to time we may have to substitute in an older bus that is not quite as accessible. This sometimes happens when our current buses are taken out of rotation for maintenance or an unscheduled cleaning. When this happens, we will notify passengers through the TransLoc app. If the accessible bus is expected to be out of service for an extended period of time, we will also post a notice on this website and our social media feeds.
