Council signaled to administration that it was open to having a look at draft regulations for tents and other temporary structures that are increasingly being used by the public at Kinosoo Beach.

Cold Lake Council will be holding a public hearing to gather feedback for changes to the city’s Land Use Bylaw to define and regulate “temporary project accommodations,” a definition meant to capture accommodations that would generally be described as work camps.

Grant funding requests and changes to policy were both approved for the Community Recreation, Art, Culture, and Heritage Investment Grant at the Feb. 10 Council meeting.

Council will be considering a multi-year plan to bring the City’s recreation user and rental fees closer to provincial averages.

Four community groups recommended for funding by the Community Grant Advisory Committee had their applications approved by Cold Lake City Council at its regular meeting held last week.

Council received an update from FoodCycle Science on the usage and waste diversion from 100 FoodCyclers that made their way into local homes as part of a pilot program in the community.

After another year of monitoring the cost to operate electric vehicle chargers versus the revenue generated, the City of Cold Lake will need to increase its rate by 400 per cent to generate a positive cash flow for the service.

Any municipal election is a tremendous undertaking, and the October 2025 municipal election was no exception. Council was debriefed during their Tuesday Corporate Priorities Committee Meeting on voter turnout, challenges, and how staff were successfully able to hold the election, given changes made to the Local Authorities Election Act.

Council passed a motion to provide next year’s Xtreme Bulls and Bronc event with a sponsorship of $10,000 with the hopes that the event builds off its success and works towards sustainability. 

At its regular meeting held on December 9, 2025, Cold Lake City Council approved its strategic priorities.
